BGC Contracting

BGC won its first major contract in NSW. This was a major, long term coal mining contract valued at over $800m and created an immediate need to attract and recruit volumes of skilled blue collar workers in the region..... at scale and pace.

Scope:
Employer Brand. Recruitment Campaign.
Industry:
Mining.

Challenge

BGC secured a major coal contract in NSW — triggering an urgent need to recruit a large-scale workforce within a tight timeframe.

The project required:

  • 300 skilled blue-collar workers
  • A mix of DIDO and local hires
  • Full mobilisation within just 6 months

On top of that, the project was being taken over from an incumbent — meaning there was immediate pressure to deliver without disruption and ensure continuity on-site.

Process

A highly targeted, localised recruitment strategy was developed to meet the aggressive timeline.

Localised Campaign Execution
A full advertising takeover was implemented across Boggabri and surrounding towns — ensuring maximum visibility within the local workforce.

Integrated Communications
A multi-channel campaign was deployed, combining on-the-ground presence with digital and print outreach to reach both local and DIDO candidates.

Employer Brand Development
A new Employer Value Proposition (EVP) was introduced — positioning BGC as an attractive and reliable employer in the region.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Strong relationships were built with local communities and stakeholders to drive trust, awareness, and candidate interest.

Result

All 300 roles were successfully filled within the required timeframe — ensuring smooth project mobilisation with no delays.

The campaign not only delivered immediate hiring results, but also:

  • Built a strong pipeline of candidates for future projects
  • Increased brand visibility in the region
  • Strengthened relationships with local communities and stakeholders

A high-pressure recruitment challenge turned into a scalable, long-term talent advantage.
